The National Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (NACTOMORAS) has endorsed the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress Party (NDCP), Dr. Johnson Edosomwan, for the 2019 general elections.
The leadership of the association from the 19 Northern States including Katsina State – the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari -declared their support at a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday.
The Chairman of the NACTOMORAS Board of Trustees, Musa Ishaku, said the choice of the NDCP came because of its programme for the masses and the integrity of Edosomwan and his running mate, Nasiru Mohammed. Mohammed is the secretary of the NACTOMORAS in the 19 northern states.
Ishaku said, “We believe in the manifesto of the NDCP and its programme for the masses. The candidates are men of honour and integrity that mean well for the people and have impacted on lives. We want a government that can meet the yearnings and aspiration of the people.”
Responding, Edosomwan said, “We stand for value, integrity and economic prosperity. We are looking forward to create an economy that will create job for the youths, opportunities for women and infrastructure that will support the economy to produce and yield the dividends of democracy.
“We are going to work to improve our Gross National Income to nine per cent from the two per cent that it is today.
“We are going to sensitise the people to know that the election is about our lives, betterment of our future and to educate them not to sell their votes. If we do this, Nigeria will be respected more by the outside world.”
Edosomwan promised that nobody would be discriminated against on the basis of religion or ethnicity, if elected as president.
He also promised to ensure that money voted for projects are judiciously used as may be appropriated.
